Aikido Kids is a program offered to Home School families only, for ages 6-9.

DWMA's Aikido Kids is a one (1) hour, parent/child interactive class, two days per week, and parents will be required to participate along side of their children. This is a special program geared toward the desires of home schooling families that enjoy the bonding time, and appreciate the value in a structured and productive learning environment necessary for the child to grow with boundaries. This class also provides the children with the opportunity to develop social skills that may not always be afforded them in a home school setting.

There will be a onetime registration fee. This fee will include the uniform for the child only. Parents are not required to wear a uniform, but may if so desired. If the parent desires to wear the uniform along with their child, please speak with DWMA prior to purchasing anything, as we hope to provide families with the most appropriate uniform and value information available at the time.

In this class the children will be given basic falling and rolling, footwork and movement along with techniques and multiple attacker scenario training. Basic Japanese language and terminology for the art, to include proper dojo etiquette and protocal, will also be covered. At a point the child demonstrates an awareness of their surroundings and responsibility for their actions, they will be given basic weapons training with the Bokken (wooden training sword), and the Jo (short staff).

Most importantly DWMA is dedicated to giving the child an avenue to learn and apply those essential skills needed to become functioning, productive and responsible people in our society. DWMA is not a babysitter, and will not be the 'Bad Guy' while the parent fails to follow through on their end. DWMA and the Aikido Kids program is designed and intended to work with the parents to provide each child the opportunity to become the very best human being the child can be.
